Training and Exercise Coordinator
Welcome to the new page for the Lancaster County Emergency Management Agency Training Office. You will find information about the types of training, exercises, and planning the Training Office coordinates in our calendar. The Training Office coordinates the delivery and documentation of training and preparedness for a variety of natural and man-made disasters and emergencies that can impact the County of Lancaster. We strive to provide Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator Training monthly, in addition to other local classes as requested.
This office maintains training and certification records for County and Municipal EMA Staff as mandated by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. This certification requirement is based on PEMA Directive 2022-02 and Title 35, Chapter 75, Section 7502 of the Pennsylvania Code. There are two levels of certification; Associate and Professional. The new checklists require a FEMA Student ID number.
Exercises are routinely conducted on the following, but not limited to; All Emergency Management related Communications Equipment (State Emergency Voice Alerting Network (SEVAN) and Emergency Alert System (EAS), Nuclear Power Plants, Medical Service-1 (MS-1), Weather Exercises, and Regional Exercises.
All exercises coordinated through our office are developed, conducted, and evaluated using the guiding principles set forth by the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP). This program is maintained and revised by The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Training Office actively represents Lancaster County in the South Central Task Force Exercise Working Group.
